Coogarim in Israel

by Ashley Marx, Coogarim unit head

Coming back from a year in Israel, I knew I wanted to bring what I learned and my experiences to share with my campers and our community. I was so excited when my staff wanted to run two separate unit programs about Israel. In one, our campers took sheirut (shared taxis that go around Israel) rides to 6 stops: The Golan Heights, where the campers learned about all the places where you can see from Israel’s Northern Border; Tel Aviv where they visited Independence Hall and signed the Declaration of Independence; The Dead Sea, complete with Mud Facials and Jerusalem where campers wrote prayers for the Kotel for our Israeli staff to bring back when they return.

In our second program about Israel, our campers recreated iconic Israeli photos as an interactive way to learn about life in Israel. Please enjoy their photos below!
