On behalf of the URJ and Camp Kalsman, thank you for your support! Your commitment and generosity has a powerful, positive effect on our campers and staff. Our camps transform those who partake in this immersive experience and thus, work to create a new and vital future for the entire Jewish community.
Below are some words from families about the impact camp has on their lives:
“I cannot thank you and your staff enough for making an absolutely fabulous first-time camp experience for our sons. In the weeks since they've come home, there has not been a day without multiple camp memories and references. They LOVED it and are already making their plans for next year. I have heard about Maccabiah (too much rock for one hand), "Popcorn" and Israeli dancing, mountain biking, the tower, shiur, swimming, Shabbat song session, the Israeli army, and on and on. Most of all, the kids have talked non-stop about the people - friends and staff alike. My own memories of GUCI remain after so many years, and it fills my heart to see my children have incredible experiences of their own in the URJ camping movement.
I must also convey a special thanks to the nursing staff and chefs who took such good care in regards to food allergies. They were thorough and professional - and as importantly they were kind and caring and allowed our kids to be and feel safe. Thank you for this commitment to safety and accessibility for all kids.
Yasher koach to all of you!"
I just wanted to let you know how much both of my children have enjoyed camp Kalsman. They had a great time. They both feel very strongly about going back there next year. As a matter of fact, that is the first thing they ask me when I picked them up. My oldest one (she'll be 13 in three days) shared with me that she loved best the whole Shabbat preparation and the songs. She also got a new appreciation for the prayer sessions that happened everyday. I am so glad I had the opportunity to send both of my children to camp and experience something that I hope will remain with them always. I also hope to be able to send them again. It is a great experience for any Jewish child.
Just wanted to let you know what a FABULOUS time our daughter appears to be having at the camp! At Kalsman, all we hear is that the girls in her cabin are so nice, the activities are so fun, the counselors are so warm, and the food is so good. Whatever you're doing up there, keep doing it! She is having a blast, and we are grateful to you for GETTING IT RIGHT! Thank you for showing her such a marvelous time! "I just wanted to tell you that all three of our kids had an absolutely fantastic time at camp. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw my son tearing up saying goodbye to all his new friends!! This is a kid who kicked and screamed about going to camp!! My daughter wanted to stay the whole Summer, and made more friends than she ever has in her life. I have literally never seen her so happy. Kudos for a really well-run and fun camp where the kids really do feel like they belong as Jews, which is so rare during the year. My husband and I are very appreciative for all that you, Briana, and the rest of the staff have done to make this such a terrific experience for the kids."
"Our daughter has been going to Camp Kalsman for the last 4 years and in her own words describes her experience there as 'life changing' because it has helped her to feel more connected to Judaism. When she comes home from camp, the hardest part for her is that she desperately misses her friends and the Kalsman experience. It is usually two to three days of tears until she recovers and integrates back into her home life. I'm so glad that she loves being there and feels more connected to Jewish friends and culture. Her time at camp has been a major factor in defining her positive Jewish identity."
