Community Shabbat
Friday, August 8 | 4:00 – 9:00 pm
All are welcome for our final Community Shabbat of the summer. Community members, alumni, prospective families and donors are invited to join for a Friday afternoon and evening to experience the magic of Shabbat at Camp Kalsman. We ask that families who have campers in Session Gimmel sign up for the Visitors’ Shabbat in June and not attend while their camper is in session.
A few important reminders about joining us for Shabbat in order to keep our community happy and safe.
Current Camp Families: We respectfully request that parents/family who have camper(s) enrolled at camp NOT attend a Visitor Shabbat that overlaps with the session your camper is in attendance. All visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
Note on security: Our priority continues to be the health and safety of the campers and staff who are on-site with us during the summer. Our full-time team is in direct and regular contact with local law enforcement who is aware of our camp dates and these visitor events.
During this time of heightened anxiety, we kindly ask that you register at least a week in advance of attending Community Shabbat. Only people who have pre-registered will be admitted to camp and everyone entering camp will be asked to present photo ID. Should the security situation change at all we will communicate any changes, including cancellation or rescheduling, as soon as possible.
No outside food or drinks are allowed. Please, no pets for the safety of others.
FAQS

You must register in order to join us for Shabbat. All guests will need to show Photo ID at the security gate. For security purposes, people that are not on the list (registered at least 1 week in advance of the event) will not be permitted to enter camp.
Is Shabbat free?
Each Shabbat costs $36 and includes a reception, Shabbat services, dinner, and dancing. We do not want cost to be a prohibitive factor for anyone. Please feel free to reach out to Ariel Kurland at akurland@urj.org with any questions about financial assistance.
I have special dietary requirements. who should I get in contact with?
We offer a variety of selections for our Shabbat meals, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. If you have a specific concern about a food related allergy or accommodation, please contact Michael Fishman at mfishman@urj.org.
My schedule has changed and I can no longer attend Shabbat. Can I get a refund?
Please do your best to let us know if you can no longer join us for Shabbat in a timely manner. If you cancel a week before, you will be refunded 100%. If you cancel any time after that, please be in touch with us directly about a refund.
