Rabbi Ilana Mills

Rabbi Ilana Mills joined the Kalsman team after spending three summers in senior leadership roles at Kalsman. She brings a passion for camp and learning everywhere she goes. Rabbi Ilana is a true product of the Union for Reform Judaism.

Michael Fishman

Assistant Director

Michael joins our year-round Kalsman Team as the Assistant Director after 13+ summer as a camper and staff member! He is excited to pass on the lessons he has learned and impactful camp experiences to the next generation of URJ campers in the Pacific Northwest.

Eian Snyder

Eian served as a Camp Kalsman CLASP Fellow from 2022-2023 and has worked at Camp in a leadership position as a Summer Assistant Director, Machon Director, and Unit Head for the last 4 summers. His deep connection to the community stems from his past roles as NFTY-NW Regional Mentor and Youth Group and Education Director in multiple synagogues in the Seattle area. Eian graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. In his free time, Eian likes to play the piano, play softball with friends, and go on nice hikes around the PNW!

Kim Press

Kim Press joined the Kalsman team as the West Coast Registrar in 2021 having worked for URJ Camp Newman since 2016.  Kim and her husband Marc live in San Rafael and are very active members of Congregation Rodef Sholom. When Kim isn’t busy answering parent questions about registration,  scholarships, and all things camp-related, she likes to run, row, bake, and read.

Ariel Kurland

Director of Development

Originally from the Bay Area, Ariel is thrilled to be back home and joining the URJ West Prior to this role, she worked a fundraising and marketing consultant for organizations focused on social impact, including non-profits, tech companies, and think tanks. Before that, she spent 5 years at BBYO working in fundraising and community engagement throughout the West Coast. She continue to be inspired by the URJ West Camp community.

Rachel Slaton

Director, Marketing & Communications

Rachel has been a part of the URJ West Camps team since 2016, as the Associate Director for 6 Points Sports – CA as well as for Camp Newman. She is excited to now be supporting both West Coast camps: Kalsman and Newman as the Director of Marketing and Communications. Rachel earned Masters in Jewish Non-Profit Management along with a Masters in Public Administration from USC and following graduate school, worked for BJE: Builders of Jewish Education and American Jewish Committee (AJC) in Los Angeles.

Lisa Kama

Lisa Kama began her journey with the URJ West Camps at Camp Newman in the summer of 2015, when she first came to camp to volunteer for a few weeks in the Welcome Center. As the years went by, she began spending more and more time at camp, until she joined the year-round team in the fall of 2021 as Administrator. Lisa grew up attending Jewish summer camps and never quite got enough of it, so being back at camp feels like the perfect fit.

Casey Gore

A former camper and counselor at Camp Newman, Casey is thrilled to be joining the West Coast team to support both Camp Newman and Camp Kalsman as the Business Manager.  Prior to this role, Casey was a high school counselor and math teacher.  She is passionate about building confidence and resilience in young adults – something that so many campers gain from their summer experiences.

Lucas Sachs

Development Associate

Originally from Philadelphia, Lucas is excited to join the Camp Kalsman team as the new Development Associate. He previously served as the Springboard Fellow at Hillel at the University of Washington, where he engaged more than 1,500 Jewish students in building the next generation of Jewish leaders. Lucas is a graduate of Tulane University, where he majored in Jewish Studies and Political Science. Outside of work, he enjoys exploring the local music scene, cheering on the Mariners, and spending time on the water with his paddleboard.
